Anyone Fancy.........

Ok..........Sorry I aint been around anyones blobs much or even caught up with all me emails.... Im sorry....... just call me a slagbag... just been way way busy, what with trying to be a substitute mum to 2 little nippers that have started school...... over here they start off just mornings, so Im not only over the school in the mornings and as schools out, Im also having to go over the Infants at noon to pick up J & T the twins, L, and A.... cos their parents have to work so its up to me to settle the little darlings into school routine and be all happy and excited when they come running out to me at noon, arms filled with book bags, paintings, lunches, backpacks, and listen to them jabber on about their morning at school and tease and joke around with them.... all the while feeling sad that their parents are not getting to experience these oh so precious 'starting school' days.... but happy that they love me enough to come running out into my arms full of laughter and giggles..... so I do the school pickups and me matie Sharon does the lunchtime pre-school pickups then we meet for lunch either at my house with about 10 kids or at her house with 10 kids LOL.....

I feel blessed that I get to settle these tiny tots (4 year olds) into school and felt so proud today when Alex came running out to me with a beautiful picture he had painted for ME....... which he prompty gave his mum when she picked him up from me at 6pm LMFAO ..... little sod LOL his mum is dutch and its just so funny, I find meself talking to her in that sloobie doodie up and down singing accent lmfao, we both end up laffing so hard LOL...... bloody foreigners....

So..... anyways that is why Ive not been around as much, also trying to fit in 3 hospital appointments a week ..... but busy is good, and busy pays the bills and puts food on the table.....and makes me forget for a little the empty ache where me soul once was....

Anyways........... Anyone fancy coming for a lunchtime drink tomorrow, and NO, I dont necessarily mean a beer or a spirit, ya can have a fizzy drink or squash if ya like..... cos this is where we are off to tomorrow lunchtime with 8 kids in tow.....

This is The Royal Oak at Langstone harbour, which is about 13 minutes drive away :)..... and that on the right of it is the Old Mill where someone lives, it has no sails nowadays, and some famous bloke years ago use to live in it, at full tide it is cut off and one can only access it via the old Puffing Billy Railroad track which is now a nature reserve which runs behind it.....

You can see how cut off the mill house is at high tide.... I can remember many a time when some unsuspecting holdiay maker had dared to park their car down on the foreshore and go in the pub for dinner etc, only to come out when the tide has come in to find there car almost submerged by the water LMFAO...... funny funny, that will learn em... dam tourists lol

This is what its usually like during any summer weekend, except this summer was crap weather so everyone would of been inside the real old pub..

I love this pub so for many reasons...... as kids we would be taken their by me parents, and whilst they visited with friends in the pub, us kids (kids of the friends to) would all swim in the harbour.... there use to be a little wooden raft chained to the seabed just off the pub which we would swim out to...... Im talking about when I was 7ish I suppose...... no one checked up on us all evening lol..... and I know from experience what a dangerous place it can be when the tide turns and starts to go out..... when the tide is out its just mudflats and when we use to swim in the waters there, we would be to scared to put our feet down cos of the stinking mud on the seabed LOL....

This is the same pub when the tide is right out LOL.... and it stinks to high heaven....

On the opposite side of the road from The Royal Oak are the cockle mudflats where we use to have to go cockling with me father when we was nippers.... but thats a story for another day.....funny and scarey and life threatening....

The Royal Oak use to have a pot bellied pig in the back beer garden, and I remember it use to eat all the scraps off the resturant tables - this pub does the most amazing grub..... the little road at Langstone that leads down to the pub has a beautiful ancient row of terrace houses, and I remember this really old lady use to sell tiny tubs of fresh cockles from her open front door....

The photo above are off the internet as my photos are still on me old computer and as yet I aint had a chance to swap over all the computer cables to transfer them onto this new computer....

The picture is actually taken from the carpark of The Ship Inn pub which is just across the waterway from The Royal Oak...... another lovely old pub with great grub.... Langstone is the gateway onto Hayling Island.... which has a pub right on the beach which also holds such wonderful memories for me, and hopefully now for my lads, but again, those memories are stories for another day.....

This to is a lovely old pub, not as old as The Royal Oak and very different inside.....

We aint just going to Langstone for lunch, we will actually take the nippers along the nature reserve which stretchs right along the coast to the next harbour village of Emsworth...... more memories there for me.....sigh.....

All this of course IF IT AINT RAINING........ wish me luck that I dont lose one of the nippers off the mudflats lmfao.....

Maybe, over the coming weeks, I'll take ya all on a pub crawl of the 7 (yes bloody 7) pubs here in me village..... all over 150 years old except one......

I know if I EVER get any doodles maties come to visit, I will be their personal tour guide, there is just so much to see and do in my part of the world, mostly old and ancient, and I dont just mean the pubs LOL - I was trying to explain to me matie JBelle about all the amazing sites and places here on the South Coast of England...

Enough Twaddle for a Wednesday evening, now that Ive bored ya to death LOL

Well Mel...I would just call you "a slagbag"... but that's like the pot calling the kettle black! I've been busy too. But you know the old saying (don't know it it's true in the world of blogging) "Absence makes the heart grow fonder"

Blessings...

What a wonderful tour - and I think you would be a fabulously fun tour guide! I have a feeling you'd have me laughing lots - and I love to laugh! Those little ones are lucky to have you there for when they get out of school all excited to share their day. Thanks for taking the time to write - I enjoyed my visit!

Is the Jolly Roger still open? I recall going there as a child. No, in those days I did not drink - sigh!!!

Those are great memories and neat pictures you have Marmite! *goes and reserves a plane ticket in his name!*

Now all I got to do is go through the immense hassle and expense of getting a passport from the US Department of Homeland (in)Security, ugh. I'll get back at 'em by not washing off me muddy feet and legs when it comes time to fly home.

Emsworth cockles dipped in Sarson's vinegar - one of the culinary delights of the world!

Yes, do take us on a pub crawl. I miss the British boozers.

Toriz said...

I'd have joined you for a drink at lunch time, but I was too late reading this. Plus I was only just on my way home from the doctor at lunch time so wouldn't have made it.

Glad you've been keeping busy and getting to enjoy the happy babbling of the nippers' first days at school. :)

Sorry I've not been around either. Been back in hospital and this last op seems to have taken more out of me than the first. I reckon 'cause I wasn't fully better from the other one.

How are you and your lads doing?

Anonymous said...

You're so lucky to have old structures close by. We doodles have a tendency to tear things down when they're old and start over. while reading about the pubs I started feeling like I was really there enjoying the tour.

So that's how you do it. You keep the nippers drunk.

GOONESS, sorry I aint answered comments as yet, been pushing meself way to hard and working long days so have been knackered LOL

Sorry to those whom I owe emails, and I will get around to them this weekend.... I promise.....

~(((((word tosser))))~ even though I ready to move to pastures new and a new life, I have such a passion for where I live and its surrounding areas.... my roots grow deep here, Ive never lived more then 12 miles from where I live now LOL.... I think thats a bit of a saddo, maybe thats why I love travelling so much....glad you liked the little tour of Langstone pubs lol... and ya never know, maybe one day I'll get you over here :)...xxxxx

~((((((in-spired))))~ aint slagbag a great word lol..... busy is good, except its leaving me exhausted most nights and no fit state to do all I have to do in the house lol.....xxxxx

~((((JBelle))))~ you would LOVE Bosham which is about 20 minutes from here and Chichester, oh my you would LOVE Chichester, my father when he and my mother divorced lived on a boat on the Chichester Harbour Canal.... you're right, the South Coast is a treasure trove and oneday I will share it with you my dear friend....just let me get well enough for visitors, and find something to patch the hole where me soul was... lol...

ps...... now as I drive around, Im seeing where I live in a guides view lmfao and I find meself talking to meself explaining what every landmark and treasure is :)...xxxxx

~(((((((pixie))))))))~ one day aye :)...xxxxx

~((((((sue))))~ the old pubs around here are 10 a penny, we do tend to just take them for granted.... most pubs are the heart and soul of the villages around here, and NO one dont have to drink beer, they all serve lovely cups of tea and coffee and wonderful hot butter teacakes etc :)....xxxxxx

~((((deb))))~ laffing I can do lmfao - I LOVE all the kids in my care (well, except one little tosser who I cant stand lol but he would never know, and I have had him for 4 years and I still aint warmed to him) and I love to do things different with them, social services called me a memory maker once cos of what I sometimes do and how I talk to the kids....xxxxx

~((((mei del)))~ Langstone is not quite in Portsmouth, its just up the road along from Havant... and its a lovely place to go, especially if you have dogs, you can walk the foreshore right along to Emsworth mill pond.... jebus I could right pages and pages about where I live and all the places lol....xxxxx

~(((((((Coral)))))))~ oh my, you have been to Hayling Island WOW :).... when I was a kid we lived at Havant which is only a few miles from Hayling Island and that is where I had me first ever holiday in a caravan park.... I remember me mum and dad having a row and me dad going home and leaving us with no money for the week, so we had to pack our bags and me mum with me (10) my older brother (12) and me younger brother (3) had to walk home LOL... oh happy days lmfao....only ever had 2 holidays as a kid, that one and one in Devon camping with my crazy family, and me dad did a runner then also lmfao.... but we was stuck in Devon with no money and certainly couldnt walk home LOL.... god was we hungry by the end of the week when 'dad' came back and picked us up..... maybe thats why I have given my lads some of the most wonderful times on holidays....

Dont know the Jolly Roger but there is a pub in Southsea call the Jolly Sailor but its a gay pub.....xxxxx

~((((buff))))~ glad you liked the little tour :) - maybe one day we could all have a blob get together LOL.....xxxxx

~(((((intense guy)))))~ and that aint even one of the best old pubs lol

You doodles make life so complicated sometimes lol..... over here almost everyone has a passport... and to get one, all we have to do, is.....

Have taken 2 photos from a photo taking machine ($6)

Get someone with a proper profession (ones doctor, a school teacher, even a childminder) sign the back to say that is YOU... fill in a tiny form, take photo and form to the postoffice from whence the form gave, give it to the nice lady behind the counter, who will check you have filled it in correctly, hand over $140 and watch as the nice lady puts the form and photos in a special envelope, wave it goodbye... wait up to 10 days (usually back in 4-5) and your passport plopped through ya letter box....

Last year I had to renew mine, Jacobs and Sams... it cost me a pretty packet but I needed to get them renewed cos they only had 5 months left on them.... they last 5 or 10 years..... EASY PEASY why do doodles make things so difficult lol.....xxxxx

~(((((cedar))))))~ I did use to have a brain in me head ya know before I worked with kids lol - I use to work for The Ministry of Defence and have own my own Plant Nursery and Pre-schools LOL..... I hope the nippers feel happy and safe with me, they most certainly laff alot, and the parents love me sense of humour with their kids and how Im always winding them up..... I did say to a dad last week that really I should be a quiet NICE gentle childminder when he arrives in the mornings with his kids, and he said PLEASE DONT lol....xxxxx

~((((((Toadie)))))))~ oneday.... oneday matie I will get you toadies over here......xxxxx

~(((((ake)))))~ Ive been as far up your way as the Lake District, you also live in a beautiful part of the country, just different from here on the coast.... and hey, I bore meself to death sometimes LOL.....xxxx

~(((((dumdad))))~ oh my goodness, you've had Emsworth Cockles with Sarsons vinegar..... :)..... I took a bottle of sarsons to the states when I went 3 years ago, cos they dont have it for their chips over there LOL the bloke in the fish resturant so laffed and asked if he could keep the bottle, so I swapped it for one of their beer glasses with the name of the restruarant on it :) .....xxxxx

~((((((((((((((ToriZ)))))))))))))~ oh shit, Im so very very sorrty, I didnt know you have been poorly and back in hospital, please forgive me.... I'll email or ring you over the weekend....hugz to you dear sweet you.....xxxxx

~((((helen))))~ there is so much that is old around these here parts, we do tend to just take it for granted.... glad you liked the little tour, maybe I should do more of them instead of talking about my rubbish life LOL....xxxxx

~(((slip))))~ yep, we keep them rat-arsed and tanked up to their eyeballs lol then they sleep all afternoon so we can have wild parties..... :)

If the summer had been decent you would of found me and me maties up the pub with the nippers most days LOL - I take my nippers to this well old beautiful pub called The Roebuck Inn and Corhampton which has a little river running through the grounds and we sit on the grass banks and I let the nippers paddle and take little nets and they fish for sticklebacks in their underwear lol and walk through the little tunnel that runs under the country road :)... swimming in the river instead of a swimming pool whilst sipping cold fizzy drinks and munching on prawn baguettes PRICELESS memories :)...xxxx

~(((((Wolfie))))~ you doodles live in such a vast country, I would LOVE to tour it one day.... maybe thats why Ive LOVED Iggy's (intense guy) blob with his virtual walk, especially as it was down the East coast and to parts I love.... he is now doing a virtual walk of england you should go read his blob.......xxxxx

~(((((charles)))))~ hehehe it happens more often then people realise..... as kids we would sit on the seawall and just watch thetide come in and the cars and sometimes motorbikes get washed over with the sea LMFAO.... the inside of the old pubs are just amazing.... not themed pubs but REAL original stuff.........xxxxx

Toriz said...

That's OK. You've had a lot going on. And I didn't really get much time to let people know, anyway.

Takin' care o' those kids is the most important job in the world, Toasty. You're to be admired.

Don't ever forget it.

I remember my first intro to British pubs back in '79 (geez I sound like an old fart now).

Singing, dancing, a who cares let's just have fun atmosphere...it was crazy fun.

I'm on that pub crawl with you when it happens...

So happy to hear of your affection for the little tykes. I worked with pre-schoolers for several years. They are exhausting and exhilarating all at the same time. I teach 10-11 years old now. Different work but -- LOL --same affect.

Gorgeous picutres! Makes me want to visit. Nothing in my part of the world remotely resemebles these beautiful post card images. Sadly, after Hurricane Ike our coast line has been ravaged and littered with debris. But... Galveston is still doing their traditonal Christmas event -- Dickens on the Strand. I bet you would laugh to see their effort to duplictae a proper English Christmas with Charles Dickens and all. I do admire their grit to keep the tradition going. They have been without power and clean water for weeks and the Strand (business district) had a surge wave of 10 feet through their stores.

~((((((ToriZ))))~ I didnt get the chance to ring you today, Ive been in and out and up to me eyes in shit here..... Dont think Ive forgotten and I will contact you in the week.... xxxxxx

Oh pubs now are much more sedate then back in the 70s lol I remember those days to :)

I'll shout you a pint of real ale if your ever over this way lol....xxxxxx

~((((ladystyx))))~ fanks so needed those hugs today.... Ive ran out of marmite LOL....xxxxx

~(((((((((((((France))))))))))))~ when Im well enough and your back over here, we WILL get together somewhere somehow :)......xxxxxxx

~((((blue))))~ yeah the little bleeders LOL.... most of them, including me before and after school nippers Ive had since they were babies, so this is just an extention of their homes..... we do have some amazingly old pubs aroundabout here....

Do you know just 12 miles from me in Portsmouth, which is our local town, there is The Charles Dickens Musuem, which is actually the house and contents where he lived..... see, we have it all here lol........ it does make me laff when a doodle trys to put on an English accent LOL cor blimey geezer lmfao.... dam the floods etc sound horrendous.......xxxxxx

Hey Marmy, it's going to get awfully crowded when we all come to visit...perhaps we could erect a circus tent...without all elephants and other beasties and trapeze and high wire and man being shot from a cannon there would be plenty of room...well, maybe we could keep the trapeze for(ahem)extracirricular activites...
...love all the pictures and would love to visit all the old pubs and other structures...unfortuntately, we doodles tear down our history and put up car parks and Starbucks...

And don't forget the pub food..just yummy. I don't care what people say about British food but I HAD some great dishes when I was over there visiting.

I even got to Portsmouth...who knows I may have even past by your place ...of course, I was probably half pissed!

I remember seeing one of those tides being out and being amazed at how the boats were just sittin in the mud. ummm I'm wondering if that mud would be good for a body wrap...could be a new business venture for you!!

~(((Pinkacorn)))~ People often ask me how I do it, I dont even think about it, Ive had most of these nippers since they were babes in arms (most for 9 hours a day), so they are just like me own, I know them all like the back of me hand and I can honestly say Ive NEVER had any nonsense or bother or rudeness from them, just giggles and laffs and noise and chatter and questions ...... it just comes naturally to me, when I have to start thinking about what I do then it will be time to call it a day.....
