Not To Be Out Done With Snow.... Blizzards Conditions I Tell Ya ....

Ok...... To say Im a little bit envious of me doodle maties that have snow is an understatement.....cos we love snow.... on saying that, we dont have to live with it day in and week out and struggle to work in it..... ya see, down here in the south of England we rarely get snow, thats not to say we never get it cos we do every 6 or 7 years lol.... I mean enough to go sledging on butster hill...... the last time we had real proper snow for sledging was about 8 years ago...... I do have photos of that proper snow somewhere, I will have to dig out the memory box and have a butchers for them...

Last year it started to snow just after crimbo, I even remember when it was lol... it started about 10ish in the evening.... oh the excitement..... so, my Jacob says... mum mum its snowing real proper, big flakes and its laying on the ground, do you think its gonna lay real proper? ..... nah I says... it wont be around long, lets go out for a walk...... mum its gone 10 o'clock are you mental..... yep, I must be I says..... so coats and gloves and rosey noses we walked down our little road in the falling snow..... when I say snow, I dont mean 6 foot piles like doodles have fall on them.... I mean like a couple of centimetres LMFAO.... oh shut up, we was excited....

This is almost blizzard conditions LMFAO......

You understand that at gone 10 at night its way dark down our little road, we only have one street light at the end near the pub and there was not a single soul out except for us LOL..... everyone was snuggled up warm in their homes and me and Jacob are hobbling down the road in the falling snow..... I knew that within a day it would be gone, and it was not real proper laying snow... and ya just gotta make the most of it when its there.....

By scraping the snow off the bonnets of the cars parked out the front, Jacob managed to gather enough snow to make a proper snowball LOL.... aint ya jealous of our heavy snow lol...... we could be snowed in by morning, cut off from the world LOL...

When I told me maties the next morning that me and Jacob had wandered down the road gone 10 at night they just blank stared at me and then asked me if I was insane and why would I wanna do that?....... me townie maties miss out on soooooo much, they just DONT GET IT lol... I might need to find different maties lol... nah, not really...

When we did get up in the morning I was surprised to see that the snow was still around... well, not snow like me doodles friends have, ya know piled high against the house and stuff, but if ya looked real hard it did make little dunes up against the kerbs where the wind had blown and if ya was a 'borrower' then ya would have trouble with the snow drifts LMFAO.....

If you look real close you can make just make out the crimbo lights that are still on the village green tree....

By the time I walked the 200 metres to the village green the next morning the snow had already began to melt, and the roads were dead clear.... and just the trees and the grass bare witness to the night before..... no sledging for us this year.....

I will dig out the photos from the proper snow 8 years ago when we went sledging..... it was just the bestest....

There is the most beautiful photo of snow in Sharkies back garden on his blob from last year, ya have to scroll back though... and Toadie has on his blob the most wonderous photos of his lads in the snow... and all me dooble blobbers have had snow photos up..... and NOW so do I LMFAO..... (that was a 'anything you can do' moment)...

Ok enough boring twaddle for a crisp bright it will be warm when the frost melts Monday morning....

x

ps...... JBelle and Lisa, I aint forgotten the meme you both asked for..... maybe in the week.....

pps.... its half term here, that means the schools and colleges are off for a whole week, it also means I have extra kids plus Jacob and Sams maties all here...... and then its only 4 weeks and its end of term which means 2 weeks school break, one of which I work and one of which I GET OFF woooo hoooo, now, where should I go for a proper break?

xx

Weather forcast for G.R. Mich.,USA 1-3 inches... This was after yesterdays, ice/rain/snow combo that did nothing good to the roads! We go sledding all the time- in our cars!

I loves the snow ;o) but hate the slush at the end!

Ain't half term just SOOOOOO GREAT?? hahaha I only have 3 days off though, not a whole week. But hey, 5 weeks till the Easter Hols :o)

Jen said...

If I could, I would send you a couple of feet of snow from my yard for you to go sledding on. We'll probably have snow in the yard 'til May this year. But at least it's off the roads now. When I go out today, I'll throw a snowball in your direction. :)

It may only be a little snow, but it's beautiful none the less. We haven't had a "good" snow in West TN for about four years. I'm from Ohio so I miss the snow dearly!

I completely understand you being so chuffed about the snow. I'm a big fan of the stuff myself. Don't get much in the South of Wales either. You'd think the mountains would help us get some, but all they seem to help us get is rain, rain, and more rain. So, when we do get some snow I get as excited as you. When the snow came last year I ran out to play in it with the dog, and got told I was a nut, because it was late and I was in my PJs. LOL!

Oh Mel, Please (!) take some of my snow. The piles are now about 12 fet high around the driveway. They use it forsledding now. Weaselboy actually "fell off" the pile.
Are you sure that's snow in your picture? Looks like somone spilled the sugar bag...

Marmy- making love in the snow sounds alot easier than it is- then later down at the Med Centre with a frostbitten arse...

Anonymous said...

That making love in the snow does mean for a quicky. lmao

I, on the other hand, live in one of the snow capitals of the world and I could puke snow.

If I have to scrape, shovel, sweep and dig my way out of snow one more time I will scream and you will hear me in England.

I have great dreams of moving to the southern USA where I might have just one year without the white stuff. I loved it as a kid but damn...enough is enough.

My grandkids love to go sledding and making snow angels and lobbing a snowbal at this old Grammy is such great fun they roll in the snow in a fit of giggles at me trying to dodge them. Little snots.
Henry even has a sled that I bought him that has a lid so he can ride to the store in the sled when they need to haul him with and he can stay reasonably warm from the wind, wet and cold.

mostly I hate the icky icy roads.

Still, I guess if it came every 7 years or so and was gone the next day then I'd love it.

I'll think of you next my fingers are frozen to my mitts.

of course i've seen snow ya daft cow lol i used to live in georgia for a couple of years and it ended up starting to snow while we were in school the last year we were there (hadn't snowed the rest of the time we were there). it was coming down pretty good so parents were called to pick up their kids from school. we ended up having like 2 or 3 snow days. there's like a hill behind our house (navy housing and the hill was part of the navy base lol) we decided we needed to do some sledding. we didn't have any sleds so we used the next best thing: cookie sheets and pizza pans! lol this is how accident prone i am...i was barreling down the hill and for some reason forgot to stop myself and ran right into this bush. i had a gigantic bruise on my thigh for DAYS!

then in vegas we'd go to the mountains where it snowed...did i mention that i got married in lake tahoe in winter? snow on the ground, just not in the air while we were there thank goodness. hey, it even snowed in vegas...proper stick on the ground kind. i woke my girls up in the middle of the night (2 a.m.) so that they could play in it as they'd never really seen snow before then.

p.s. i get a cold nose, too, but i don't think i wanna rub noses w ya. and i would only like a snowball down me pants not me blouse (though the down me blouse wouldn't bother me) lmfreakinao

I had just put up a new snow post before I came over here.
It's storming here today and we're supposed to get several inches before it's over with. I don't care- I'm still off work and don't have to drive in it.

Cindy said...

I keep forgetting to ask you- what part of Maine do you visit? I have family up there in the Winter Harbor, Gouldsboro areas.

Lil ol' me... said...

Trust me, Ms. 'Toasty...you don't wanna make love in the snow, I don't care how special that 'someone' is. Nothing's worth a frozen blue bum! (I almost sound English, don't I?)

Me, the eternal coward, I moved from Idaho (land of the Hickleberries) to the Southern Coast of Oregon, which means I'm almost exactly half a world away from ye. And we get snow like YOU do...not a lot, and if I never see snow again, fine. If I do get snow, I'll post it (there's an English phrase) to you in care of the Village Green.

I enjoy your posts immensely. Hugely. Even drastically. Take care...

The Breacon Beacons aren't all that far from me. Maybe an hour or two by car, I think. Would have to ask my Dad how far they are, because I'm not all that great with judging how long it takes to go to anywhere we don't go regularly. LOL!

If it helps, I live just a few miles from the foot of the Black Mountain. You could walk from my place to the foot of the mountain in about an hour and a half (give or take, depending on how fast you can walk, and how well you can manage hills). Or, you can cheat and get in a car and be there in like 20 or so minutes. LOL!

I asked my Dad, and he says the bit of mountain we locals call "The Black Mountain" is actually the start of the Brecon Beacons. But the bit visitors generally go to is about 30 miles or so from us.

Kati said...

The village green, covered in snow, is beautiful! Glad y'all got a bit of snow, anyway. Hopefully next winter y'all will have another chance at sledding.

We've actually had temps in the high 30's & 40's the last couple of days. The snow is melting off our roofs, even as I type this. (Though, being as there's a good bit of it, it's by no means all melted yet. That'd take a couple of weeks at this temp.)

MarmiteToasty said...

~(((toriZ)))~ well, you live in a beautiful part of the country and one day I will get to come to Wales and see the Breacon Beacons for meself :)...... by the way, do you have a well proper welsh accent?......xxxx

~((((kati))))~ we didnt get snow this year, that was from January last year...... and I will admit the little village green does look pretty, and Sharkie is right, it looks like its had a dusting of sugar lol.... hope you dont flood when the snows melt......xxxxx

Toriz said...

Well, if you come up this way you're welcome to pop in and visit :)

For the most part I've got a proper Welsh accent, but with my hubby being Canadian I've kind of picked up a bit of his accent in with it, so when I say some things or use certain tones I don't sound fully Welsh. That's the thing with me still being really young when I ran off to Canada to marry him. LOL! (I was only 18). Had to come back to Wales though... You know what they say? "You can take the girl out of the valley, but you can't take the valley out of the girl." So, I wasn't as happy living in a city in Canada as I am living in the rural valleys of Wales.

MarmiteToasty said...

~(((toriZ)))~ oh bloody hell, you went to canada and dragged yaself back a full blown MOUNTIE lmfao.... please say he has one of those red jackets and that cute hat in his cupboard lmfao...... visions of a mounting eating leek soup, picking daffs and sheep spotting lmfao.......

And if I ever get across over to the left to Wales, I will certain let you know and ya or ya mam can make me a nice brew :)....xxxxx
