Chicken - It Aint Just Any Old Chicken - Its JANET

Ok........... After me daft post on Friday, I thought I would update ya on the Chicken front....

Ya see, I have always loved chickens, and when I was married and we owned a little plant nursery, I use to keep a few chickens up our land....... had the most amazing cockeral called Colin he was a Polish chicken, black with like a white wig, he was sooooooooo tame....... but I when I got divorced me X got the business and custody of me chickens and I got the kids and the bills and the mortgage ..... lol - but I have still always loved chickens....... and then along came Janet :)

DSCF3132

Most of ya probably know that I found a chicken a couple of months ago now, outside our junior school, so I picked it up and tucked it under me arm and with a brood of nippers in tow I bought the chicken home...... Janet had come to live with us...... and oh my, what a joy she has been.....

Ya see, the thing is with this house, or maybe its just me, no matter what pet or animal or stray we have come into our lives, they aint normal, there is always something weird or strange or unusual about whatever lives with me...... that goes for me X husband to lol........ maybe its me, maybe I have vibes that say....... ok weird things of the world..... its a free house at Mels :)......

Anyways...... back to Janet....... ya see, she aint just no normal chicken, she is special........ let me explain....

Every morning when I get up, me first job is to walk down me little garden and open Janets coop....... she has this little house with a run, but I never keep her in there, I just open the door and she has the run of the garden...... so every morning at around 7 I flip flop in me slippers down the garden and open up.... she scurries out and stand next to me looking up....... gods honest truth...... I have to say..... come on then Janet, lets go eat..... so I walk back up the garden and she follows at me heel :) - when I stop she stops when I walk she walks........ so back to the house I go, followed by Janet, in the back door I go, followed by Janet.... yes she just walks in the back door and stands at me feet while I put the kettle on for a cuppa tea and she stares up at me waiting for her breakfast...

DSCF3250

Here she is just this morning....... note me pink fluffy slippers lol

This chicken seems to love me with a passion........ I keep telling her that she AINT a dog and that she is a chicken, and she should be out in the garden doing what chickens do best...... but she just wont have it....... she eats out of the cats dishes and she snuggles up with fat cat if he curls up in the basket in the kitchen.......

DSCF3175

This is Janet sharing applie pie and a bit of a pork chop with fatcat... :)

Ya see, she dont realise she is a chicken...... she really dont....... if the back door is locked then she just climbs through the catflap....... as I type this blob she is sitting at the foot of this chair.... I wont be surprised if she dont lay her egg at me feet.....

DSCF3140

Me cats just take her in their stride....... the minded kids just love her and love that she wanders in and out the house as she likes..... one of me parents came last week to pick up his kids, he had a dog with him, and I was out so he was sitting in the garden when we eventually came in, he was laffing, all alone in the garden like some lunatic...... he said...... Mel you run a mad house, I walked up the garden with the dog, your tail-less cat shot up the garden and through the catflap followed by your fatcat FOLLOWED by YOUR CHICKEN..... I would not of believed it unless I had witnessed it with me own eyes...... he was laffing so hard, when I just said..... I know aint she great lol - only you he said.... why am I not surprised he said lol....

See, when I came in from being out for the morning or day...... Janet can usually be found nestling in the veggie basket....... well its her basket now and the veggies have been put elsewhere......

DSCF3237

Janet LOVES rice...... this is plain ole boiled rice, but she much prefers special fried rice from the chinky...... or even better she prefers egg fried rice, but I try not to give her that to often cos it must be liKe eating ya nephews and nieces.... well the egg bit that is.......

Ya see, I have a safety childs gate thingie across me kitchen door, to stop the babies going out into the kitchen..... its one that opens so ya dont have to climb over.....and evenings and weekends without the nippers here obviously the gate is just open....... BUT OH NO..... not now, cos Janet has decided that she would rather explore the rest of the house........ so now we push the gate around... BUT OH NO Janet has worked out how to push or pull the gate open enough for her to squeeze through....... I tell ya, this aint no NORMAL chicken....

DSCF3216

I think I LOVE this chicken....... daft right? but I aint bovvered what people think.....

Me matie Wendy (sleddies mum) said on Friday that cos of Janet she has decided it would be nice to keep a few chickens....... she has a well big garden and a huge house....... so chickens they got over the weekend...... with phone calls of....... Mel, how do you get your chicken to be so tame, Mel why dont our chickens come in the house, Mel our cat hates the chicken what should I do, Mel we wanted our chickens to be like Janet........

Well ya see........ me and Janet are different :) Janet like me, DONT run with the crowd..... neither of us be normal LOL........ as you have probably gathered if ya have been a reader of this blob......

Me and Janet are special :)......

Ya see, Friday, I was sitting on the floor helping Ellis (minded nipper) build the happyland track, he LOVES JANET, Ellis is 3..... so we are sitting there and he says....... Mel Janet is watching us...... so I says, she wants to come play Ellis, and with that, she pushed open the safety gate and just walked right in LOL......

DSCF3212

DSCF3205

Here is Janet having a butchers at what we were doing lol

I felt bad yesterday when we BBQ'd cos I made chicken kebabs, I try and shield her from the realities of life......dont want her to know that we have eaten great auntie Maud, and uncle Fred...... but thats life.......

DSCF3257

Janet seemed really interested in the lid of the BBQ lol..

ok...... things Janet loves and does not love to eat.......

Loves..... special fried rice (we order her her own portion from the chinky when we have chinky take-away), pizza (she prefers stuffed crust Texas BBQ), cheese (red leicester, but she likes a bit of stilton), prawns, chips dipped in mayonaise, ham, boiled eggs, lamb stew, burgers(lamb ones), melon, cat food, she LOVES marmite on toast and Special K Breakfast cereal....

Hates .... Banannas, grapes, beef sausages, strawberry jam, custard and the man next door........ this chicken has class lol she can obviously spot a twat tosser of a neighbour from 10 yards lol

When I wear me orange and red flowered docs, she pecks the laces and trys to sit on me feet......... she loves me boots as much as me.........

DSCF3200

She has given us one egg a day from about the 3rd day we got her........

Im hoping Janet lives for a long time.......... cos.......... I LOVES ME CHICKEN..... so, IF ever a blokie comes into me life...... it will have to be....... LOVE ME LOVE ME CHICKEN...... we come as a package :).....

So just a light post after me deep post on Friday....... probably bored ya to tears just as much........... but see me face.... does it look like Im bovvered? I think not.....

ps....... me lads noticed yesterday afternoon, that everytime I coughed (got a bit of broncitis) Janet would come running from wherever she was in the garden and would stand infront of me clucking real LOUD and flapping her wings LMFAO..... Tom coughed and nuffin, Jacob coughed and nuffin... as did Emma and Sam, NUFFIN....... I cough and she comes running again and starts with the loud clucking and flapping LMFAO........ she loves me :)

Enuff of the Twaddle for a Monday, cos Im as busy as hell.......

well, a chicken who loves rice is a chicken after me own heart lol course if janet were running around my house, i probably wouldn't like fried chicken so much anymore. yeah, i like ur advice bout meeting ppl, and would be fine if i wasn't so damned picky as to who are me friends. i prefer single moms over married moms, and i also like older ppl as well. it's prob why i like u so much hehehe but, nothing but a bunch of married moms who i seem to have nothing in common with lol that's ok tho...i'll prob start bk to college here soon and maybe another yr i'll work. would love to work from home...could be a nipper minder, but i ain't even got the patience for me own! lol p.s. i think i like loons, too, cuz i'm strangely attracted to this blob. :) loves ya xoxo

Yes Marms we loves you we loves your chicken. And the very first thing I noticed was those pink slippers.

MarmiteToasty said...

~((Ciara slagbag))~ :) well I was just lobbing out some suggestions lol....... Im not into the 'normal' mums at the school either lol...... ya know the ones that all do the rounds of the coffee mornings etc....... jebus they are such a bore........ college sounds good........

Ya see I have this thing..... its always best NEVER to be wholely financially dependant on another person........Ive worked and supported meself since I was 12.....and even though me and me X had our plant business, I still kept me other things going..... and fank goodness aye.... or where would I be now...... I'll tell ya..... I would be up shit creek without a paddle lol....... on saying all that rubbish....... oh how I would love just once in life for someone to take care of me for a little while.....just for a little while lol...... :)

And OYE I aint that old...... am I? lol - sigh...... booking me place in the home for the elderly :) no hope for me lol probably past me sell by date now as it is....... *ha

Hey I had a brain in me head before I became a nipper minder lol...... ask MI5 lol xxxxx

~((((((Shark))))))~ oh shut it with the slipper comment lol........ me Jacob bought me those when I went into hospital in Feb for a knee op.... and he insists that I wear them...... so hush ya mouth :) xxxx

If you feed your chicken some garlic, its eggs will have a slight garlic taste.

Very, very loud laugh in the inner sanctum of my office on that one, lord help me.

H'lo M-Toasty. That's one lucky bird...most people don't treat their own children so well. I adore the flowered boots too - they scream! Way cool.

And do you have a photo of that Polish chicken you note? Aren't they the ones that look like they just got all dolled up at the beauty parlor?

And an "oh yeah" - I have the same tiles in the entryway to my cabin...can't beat some of that "ol' standard" stock material...

:)

Happy Monday, Marm.

ah yes, i would fancy a bit of independence. i was one of those unfortunate souls who had everything done for them growing up. not that my parents had lots of money, but i was the girl, and you know how that goes. this is why i have started teaching my girls early to get a good education to have the career they want so they don't have to depend on anyone especially a MAN. once, my older daughter (who's 10) told me she was going to get married and have a man take care of her like i did. what a slap in the face! lol i HATE the fact that i'm dependent...i told the girls that, gave them my spiel on independence, and have not heard that comment since...thank goodness :)

and mel, i think u still have a brain now even after all those nippers (don't know how tho lol).

did i ever tell u that i think ur boys are a well handsome lot?

alright...time to head out n get the youngest from school xoxo

Aint them tiles just the bestest..... cool in the summer and fucking freezing in the winter LOL ......... hugs xxx

~catch~ welcome - *You have such a wonderful way of saying things..* cripes lol ya mean I dont talk normal? I only know how to type what me mind tells me to lol.... loon or what? :) x

~(((Ciara slagbag)))~ ya should of knocked that kid into kingdom come :) lol - its just I have strong feelings about things.... Ive seen so many of me maties struggle and end up in some rotten little flat cos they didnt have the first clue on how to survive or suss and sort things out when they split from husbands or boyfriends...cos they walked around when married a little snooty with loads of dosh boasting that they didnt have to work when married ....... aint saying thats the case for everyone...... or maybe its just me circumstances of having to support meself since I was 12.... Im not sure..... BUT it would still be nice for someone to care for me for a change lol.......

Well I think me brain is probably moudly now lol

and yes me lads are handsome bruts :)

be safe - love ya matie xxxxxx

~(((((JBelle))))))~ she can have boiled fried scrambled or raw but she aint having me boots lol....... loves ya to.... :) xxx

I wish I could have animals in my backyard, but I can't. Ya know, neighborhood rules, ect. If we ever moved to the actual country, my allergies would kill me, so I get to be a surburban rat forever.

I love Janet. I do.

I have a question, though. Ah Ah Ahem. Uh Where does Janet go to the bathroom? Do you have to clean up after her in the house much?

I have two cute but totally spoiled dogs, and I have never been able to house train them. They wear diapers. That is pathetic, huh? So if your chicken is house trained, I think I will faint.

MarmiteToasty said...

~((((Susan))))~ piddling meself at the thought of dogs wearing 'nappies' hehehhe sorry, but thats unheard of over here...... LOL - I dont know of any of me maties that have dogs that have a problem with them pooing in the house..... dogs poo in the garden or when ya take them for a walk, and over here one HAS to pick up their dog poo..... or ya face a fine, and low and behold anyone whose dog poos when Im out with me maties and they dont pick up :) *evil grin* but thats another story LMFAO.....

Ok, Janet aint poo'd in the room with the carpet, but she does maybe every couple of days forget and does a poo on the stone floor in the kitchen lol..... never when Ive not been there though... and she usually makes a strange noise when just about to 'you know what' so I shout JANET OUT SIDE FOR GAWDS SAKE and she runs out the back door or back out through the catflap LOL.......

LOL still giggling at nappies on a pet LMFAO...... that must be sooooooo american :) - love ya xxxx

MarmiteToasty said...

ps........ its stinkie and bad enough having to change nappies for 3 of the babies I have most days lol thats 12 nappies a day, let alone having to change a dogs nappie LOL....... sorry still giggling...... xxxxxxx

susan said...

Well, the dogs don't poo in the diapers. They wait till we let them go outside for that. Mainly they have a bladder control problem. I pay my son to change the diapers. I know. Weird. Weird. I tried to train them. I really did. For a long time, exactly like the experts say to do it. Unfortunately either my dogs are retarded or I am.

And no one else I know in the world puts diapers on their dogs, but us.

MarmiteToasty said...

~(((Susan)))~ when me cat piddled once in the house, I grabbed it by the scruff of its neck and rubbed its nose in it...... it only did it the once :).......

now I have to go to bed with the vision of dogs wearing nappies lol fanks for that Susan LMFAO...... hugs xxxxxxxx

ok..... completely knackered here so Im off to bed....... someone at least turn all the bloody lights off...... and pull the plugs....... nite maties, and fanks for stopping by..... please be safe xxxxx

I made that up. But it's true about bees and honey. Beekeepers are often contracted to pollinate garlic fields but the honey produced isn't very good because it tastes like garlic. My guess is the same would happen with chickens and eggs.

Mel, you got me laughing! Like I said -- I LOVE YOU AND YOUR BLOB!!! Janet is an awesome chicken. I'm glad she knows what a tosser the neighbour is. Special chickens should not have to put up with the likes of twat neighbours! Mel, this is one of my favorite posts from your blob! I love it!!

((((mel))))no, i guess you wouldn't know how that goes, would u? i'm sorry you took the brunt of whatever was going in ur father's mind. i would not wish that on anyone especially a young child. i guess i SHOULD consider myself lucky in some ways.

(((ordinaryshark)))thx for the words of encouragement. yeah, my daughters no longer think like that BUT they do have their dad as an example of what NOT to do. hopefully, they can see thru his crap. he is currently w a woman who is somewhat rich and has told the girls that she was. my x has moved up in the money 'status' of his relationships. i worked, his first x didn't..he got bk w her during our sep and by this time she had a degree and made more money than i, but she wanted to get married again n he didn't...besides, she didn't have enough money even tho that woman would've done anything for him (i wished he was still w her)...but now the new one can REALLY give him the world lol man, glad it's them and not me stuck w him :)

I was unconsoleable lol.... ok ok just call me a saddo..... when we had given up and I went into a quiet mourning mode :( we was sitting in me tiny lounge waiting for me matie to come pick Jacob up for his Tuesday Trampoline club when he(jacob) leapt up and said, I KNOW where Janet is.... he climbed over the back of the armchair and there she was clucking and cooing in the corner....he was sat there and could hear her lol...... she had been SO scared of the dog that she had rushed through the kitchen the dinning room past the stairs into me tiny lounge up over the back of the armchair to safety...... I have NEVER been so glad to see a chicken in me life :).....and dear Colin (the owner of the dog, NOT Colin me cockeral I use to have)went out on his bike for over an hour last night round the lanes and asking people if they had seen Janet cos he felt quilty, well and cos he knows how much Janet means to me and of course his little lad Ellis that I mind....... sigh..... ok well ya think Ive nuts, does it honestly look like Im bovvered what you fink..... :)

Wake up, Wake UP, WAKE UP. You have got some work to do. I just discovered that Cowie has ancestors/relatives in ENGLAND! You will have to pull an old Paul Revere (oops sorry, you all did lose that war, didn't you now) and alert them to Cowie's pending arrival. I am sure that they will have a lot of catching up to do. Just go to Geneology Family Tree Cowie, it will hook you right up. Oh, say, only 13 days left on your quarantine. Are you holding out ok?

~Janet~ one word 'smartarse' :) x

~(((Ciara slaggybag)))~ it was scrumpie the dog that scared her, he actually chased her last week and she dashed behind the shed and got stuck between the shed and the fence, it took us almost an hour to take out the fence panels (from me neighbours side) to release her........ SEE ITS A BLIMIN MAD OUSE :) xx

~(((Starr)))~ STOP WINDING ME UP lmfao...... ya know Im a bit of a dinlo.......

First the kosher pig farm...... and then last year on family scout camp, I was preparing the chicken for 120 campers when I noticed on the box it said 'kosher chicken' so I says to Alan and Bernie..... what the hell is kosher chicken....... and Bernie smiled and said, its means a rabbi has widdled on it first and said a pray.... thats why its moist....... oh jebus.... I didnt eat that day, cos he sounded SO convincing.... I asked a few others if Bernie was right and even our jewish matie said YES....... they was laffing AT ME all bloody weekend........ now how was I to know..... dinlo or what lol .... x

x

Pam said...

(((mel slaggiest slagbag)))laughin me arse off at that one! i don't know how they manage to keep a straight face. it sounds a lot like something my son would do. :) hey, and did u know that if kosher food gets cooked on something that's cooked non-kosher food that it's no longer kosher (just thought i'd lob that useless info in there)? lol btw, i was referring to when janet was behind the sofa/chair whatever it was when ya thought ya lost her lol would be kind of a hoot if janet had her own blob.
